FAQs
You have questions... here are the answers.
Does the whole home have to be releveled?
In most cases, no. Specific supports that are not within tolerance is what we calculate after a re-level check. We then base our quote on said findings.
How often do I have to change my heat tape?
If you don’t remember when the last time was, then now. Our suppliers recommend every three years. Certain parts are made in China which creates a need to change the product every three years. Sometimes the product lasts three years and other times it’s twenty plus years. It depends on the customer’s piece of mind or willingness to check and see if it’s still working.
What is a vapor barrier?
A vapor barrier is a 6-mill poly plastic that goes under the pier builds. What this does is stop the ground moisture from reaching the home. All new homes have this as it is part of the New York State code. Older homes typically don’t have this because said code was created in 2005.
Why can’t I purchase a new door at Lowe’s or Home Depot?
This depends on the year the home was built and the exterior height. Prior to 2015 most homes have an exterior wall height of 7’6 which cannot fit a stick-built home door size. Newer homes are built with 8’ sidewalls and flat ceilings which leave room for the regular stick-built home door sizes.
